The Slumdog Millionaire phenomenon

There are movies and then there are movies....
Before you've seen some, you wonder what all the 'buzz' is really all about.

For instance me and The Slumdog Millionaire phenomenon.
Which really had me intrigued and wondering....

Until I saw it tonight.
For it really is all that has been talked about. And more!

Showing you what Hope is about, and how even the lowest of the low, (in this instance, the 'Slumdog' )can rise and win..

Against all odds. Leaving all of us with the thought that it really is 'Hope and faith' that keep the world moving.

Or then movies like this one, which tell a story that really needed to be told.

Faith and Prayer

When nothing else works, faith does....
To that end there is a means..

Prayer and Faith

We only need to look around us or discuss with friends and family
And we will hear of imnnumerable instances when people were searching for answers, which didn't come easy.
So when nothing else worked, they turned to Prayer.

Or when people close to them were unwell, in some instances seriously.
So what did they turn to?
Prayer and Faith.

For sometimes in life we may all come across situations when Medicine and surgery is not the final answer.

That is really the time when the most well renowned surgeons worlwide also recommmend that
Prayer and Faith in God work like nothing else does....

Obama- Great to have you as 'Prez'

Yesterday, we sat glued to our television screens, as did the rest of the world.

Waiting and watching as Barack Hussaian Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America..and history was made as the first 'Black' president of the US will now live and work in the 'White' House.

Strange as it may seem, one of the predominat thoughts in my mind, watching him give his Inaugural speech was that the spirit of Martin Luther King, as well as many thousands of people who lost their lives in the Civil Rights movement would actually have been smiling, wherever they were at that moment.

For all that they had fought for and all that they had desired was unfolding on that Podium off Washington Square.
When a young(ish)Black man took the oath of the President of that same country.

Where slaves who were penned at night, built that same 'White House', brick by brick...

Obama we expect a lot from you, so make that change (that the world is looking towards you for)- happen

The beauty of rain, on a cold January night

This is the sight from our 11th floor balcony a few minutes ago.
Sheets of January rain, on a cold, cold night.

One could actually see the lightning building up, then the storm approaching. Wondering when it would break.

And before we knew it, it had..

Right then,I couldn't but help but recall the song the song, "Listen to the falling rain, listen to it fall...."
And so the night continues, as does the rain....

Gulf Football Cup Fever continues-10/1/09

All roads lead to Rome, or as in this case, to the Sultan Qaboos stadium, where Oman takes on Bahrain today. At 1830 hours...

The prize- A place in the Semi Finals.

So if football fever was at a fever pitch earlier, today the excitement in Muscat has to be seen to be believed.

And here's the evidence, some sights just have to be seen to be believed, don't you think?

So here's to Oman!!!
With all my very best...

New Year Resolutions- Myth or reality

(Pic- Sunrise 2/2/09, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman)

A real Question to ponder over. And one that I've spent all my life pondering

For I clearly remember that when I was a child, and my mother told me to make a New Year resolttion, I would do it. With the utmost seriousness and sincerity.
Specially if it involved trying to do better at my studies!
Well, I've come a really long way since then, and grown up some as well.
So now Resolutions are made only if I feel the real need to do so.
This year I've decided to do only one or two small things.
Primarily try to be there a little more for others. Before focusing on my personal needs.
In addition to losing some weight. (But that's one battle I've been fighting all my life as well.)
So here's looking forward to 2009!
A very Happy New year to all.
